Several places have info re running the Alinco software. There was not anything that worked right out of the box for Windows 10.

Be sure to follow all of the registartion steps in the windows 10 fix. Including the “what to do if there is an error” at the last step.
I put the file in the sysWOW64 folder and ran the cmd.exe found in that folder. And had to the described error which went away after doing the last regsrv step descripted by the SAP guy.
Just in case the stuff goes away….here is a copy (be sure to try the original first!….give them their add dollars!)

If you own an Alinco DJ-X11 and have downloaded the provided cloning software or remote software you may have noticed that you may get a “run time error 339, Component MSCOMM32.OCX or one of it’s dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or corrupt” error. This is more likely to happen if you run the programs under Vista or Windows 7.
The problem is that it looks like that the Alinco remote control program and the cloning utility was written in Visual Basic. The runtime that programs that were distributed do not install the MSCOMM32.OCX component needed for serial communications. MSCOMM32.OCX is no longer distributed with later versions of windows. You will need to Google MSCOMM32.OCX and find a place to download it. Once you have the file you will need to do the following:
1. Copy the file to your windows/system32 directory
2. Go to the Start Menu/Accessories/Run
3. Enter regsvr32/C:/Windows/System32/MSCOMM32.OCX
The program should tell you the file was registered.
You should now be able to run the Remote Control Program and the Cloning Utility

Go to the link http://activex.microsoft.com/controls/vb6/mscomm32.cab and download the file mscomm32.ocx
- If you are running Windows on 32 bit machine Copy the file that you have downloaded to C:WindowsSystem32 folder.
- However, if you are running windows on 64 bit machine then copy this file in C:WindowsSysWOW64 folder (<<<<<<<<<I DID THIS)
How to activate / re-register MSCOMM32.OCX from an elevated command prompt (Windows XP, Vista, 7, and 8):
- Click the Start button.
- Type “command” in the search box… DO NOT hit ENTER yet!
- While holding CTRL-Shift on your keyboard, hit ENTER.
- You will be prompted with a permission dialog box.
- Click Yes.
- Make sure you have changed the path to C:WindowsSystem32 if you are on 32 bit machine
- or C:Windows SysWOW64 if you are on 64 bit machine
- Type the following command: regsvr32 /u MSCOMM32.OCX.
- Hit ENTER. This will UN-REGISTER your file.
- Type the following command: regsvr32 /i MSCOMM32.OCX.
- Hit ENTER.
- If this gives any error the type the following regsvr32 MSCOMM32.OCX.
- Hit ENTER. This will RE-REGISTER your file.
- Close the command prompt window.
- Re-start the system.
Updated October 22, 2019: This updated codeplug has various improvements, such as update world-wide contact list as of 10-13-2019, standardized channel names in the CALL/SLOT/Talkgroup format, adding Wooster Local to the W8WKY channels, remove the Copley DMR zone, and added the Wayne Events zone from Wayne County EC KE8JNH. Also channel 6 in the Wayne Events had the wrong freq and talkgroup, which has been corrected

Alinco Dj-md5 Programming Software
A minimalist, SARA oriented codeplug for the Alinco DJ-MD5 radio is available from this page. It is up to date with local frequencies and the entire world-wide RadioID DMR database as of 5-5-2019. No warranties are expressed or implied. This codeplug will be useful for people in range of SARA’s repeaters, but does not contain every repeater in the state. We strongly encourage you to customize this codeplug for your needs!
The radio is branded as an Alinco, but underneath is yet another clone of most of the other Chinese DMR radios that are on the market. It is a reasonably good DMR radio, and is locally available from DX Engineering.

To use this codeplug, you must download it, open it in your programming software, and MUST make changes on two screens,save the file locally, and write it to your radio:
Change 1: Under Digital…Radio ID List, change the Radio ID to your DMR ID number. This is the 7 digit number you have when you registered on RadioID.net or DMR-MARC. Also change the Name to your callsign on the same screen.

Change 2: Under Public…Optional Settings: Change the Startup screen to something that makes sense to you. This is free form and not needed by DMR – but is what will appear when you turn the radio on.
